The scientific study of crystals and crystal formation is known as crystallography. The process of crystal formation via mechanisms of crystal growth is called crystallization or solidification.
Crystal or crystalline solid is a solid material whose constituent atoms, molecules, or ions are arranged in an orderly repeating pattern extending in all three spatial dimensions
If we take a piece of iron, file it with a file and catch the iron filings on a piece of paper, the iron filings will fall randomly on the piece of paper, and will have no orderly structure. If we take a magnet, which creates magnetic field energy, and place it under the paper, the filings will move into an orderly structure.
It is very interesting to see that just by putting some powder, sand, or grains of rice on a steel plate, and then sending sound vibrations to the plate, you can generate different types of patterns depending on the sound frequency.
The conclusion is: It is the vibratory energy field, which determines the shape and structure of the powder, not the powder itself.
